Double-Wide Steel Coverage, Custom-Built to Order

Two vehicles sitting uncovered in your driveway is money leaking away, hour by hour. UV rays crack dashboards and fade paint (NIH), one bad hailstorm means hundreds to thousands in dent repair, and snow and ice quietly speed up rust while your cars lose value right where they're parked.

A two-car garage fixes it, but foundation, framing, roofing, and electrical push the bill to $30,000 to $60,000 before you're done, and some properties can't even fit a permanent structure due to space or zoning limits.

What Size Double Carport Do I Need?

Most double carports range from 20×20 feet to 24×40 feet, though the right size really comes down to your vehicles and how you want to use the space. A standard 20×20 works fine for two compact cars or sedans — tight, but functional. Got trucks, SUVs, or just want room to actually open your doors without playing Tetris? Look at 20×40 or larger.

Standard Double Carport Dimensions

A 20×20 or 22×22 carport gives two standard passenger vehicles adequate coverage with some clearance on each side. Sedans, compact SUVs, and smaller trucks will fit. But if you want breathing room for door swings, walking space between vehicles, or a little storage alongside your cars, bump up to 20×24 or 24×24. You won't regret the extra footage.

Bigger vehicles or mixed-use situations call for 20×30, 20×40, or 24×40 dimensions. These are ideal when you're parking a sedan next to an oversized truck, keeping equipment under cover alongside vehicles, or carving out a workspace within the covered area.

Custom Sizing for Oversized Vehicles

We supply custom carports up to 40 feet wide and 60+ feet long — basically whatever your vehicle configuration demands. One thing people forget when measuring: account for mirror width, door swing clearance, and any accessories like toolboxes or ladder racks that stick out beyond the vehicle body.

Height Considerations for Trucks and RVs

Standard carport height starts at 8 feet, which handles most passenger vehicles without issue. Lifted trucks, vans, and anything with a roof rack will need 10 to 12 feet of clearance. RVs, motorhomes, and commercial vehicles may need 14 feet or more.

We offer leg height customization up to 20 feet, so even your tallest rig fits comfortably underneath. Quick rule of thumb: add at least 12 inches above your tallest vehicle's highest point. That buffer matters more than you'd think during entry and exit.

How Do I Customize My Double Carport?

You can customize virtually every aspect of your double carport — roof style, color, side panels, end closures, and integrated storage. Each one is built to order, so there's no picking from a handful of cookie-cutter models. And our 3D design tool lets you see these customizations in real time before you commit.

Roof Style Options and Weather Protection

Three primary roof styles, each with its own strengths:

Regular Roof (Rounded): Most economical. Features a gently rounded roofline that handles mild weather and moderate precipitation just fine.

Boxed Eave Roof (A-Frame Horizontal): A-frame design with horizontal roof panels. Better water runoff than the regular roof, a more finished residential look, and solid performance in moderate snow and rain.

Vertical Roof (A-Frame Vertical): This is our premium option — and honestly, the one we recommend most often. Vertically-oriented panels shed snow, rain, and debris far more effectively than the other styles. If you deal with heavy snowfall, frequent rain, or trees dropping leaves and branches on everything, this is the roof you want.

Color Choices and Aesthetic Customization

We carry extensive color selections for both roof and trim, so you can match your home's exterior, blend with your landscaping, or go with a contrasting look that actually adds some visual interest to your property. Most popular approach? Matching roof and trim for a clean, cohesive appearance — though contrasting colors can make the structure feel more intentional and architectural.

Adding Storage Space to Your Double Carport

Your carport doesn't have to be just a carport. We can section off one end or side to create an enclosed storage room — perfect for lawn equipment, tools, seasonal items, or outdoor gear. These storage additions can include shelving provisions, workbench areas, or fully enclosed rooms with separate entry doors.

Side Panels and Enclosure Options

Open carports handle overhead protection well, but side panels make a huge difference against wind-driven rain, blowing snow, and angled sun exposure. We offer partial or full side panel enclosures on any combination of sides. Want to go all the way? Full enclosure with garage doors turns your carport into a complete garage structure with maximum security and weather protection.

Why Choose Metal Over Wood for a Double Carport?

Metal carports outlast wood by decades, need virtually zero maintenance, and handle weather that would destroy wooden construction — at significantly lower lifetime cost. A properly maintained metal building can last 40 to 60 years or more. Wood? You're typically looking at major repairs or full replacement within 15 to 25 years.

Our steel carports use 12-gauge to 14-gauge galvanized steel with rust-resistant coating that stands up to moisture, humidity, and temperature swings. Wood absorbs water. It warps. Cracks. Rots over time. Steel just… doesn't do any of that.

And then there's the maintenance question. Wood carports demand annual staining or painting, regular rot and insect inspections, board replacements, and structural reinforcement as things weaken. Metal carports? Wash them down occasionally, check the fasteners now and then, do a visual inspection after bad storms. That's it.

Will My Double Carport Withstand Severe Weather?

Yes — when properly engineered for your location, our metal carports withstand wind speeds up to 170 mph and snow loads exceeding 65 pounds per square foot. We don't guess at this. Every carport is engineered based on your specific location's weather requirements, so your investment holds up through the worst your area can throw at it.

Wind and Snow Load Ratings Explained

Wind load rating tells you the sustained wind speed your carport can handle without structural failure. Our standard carports are engineered for 90-140 mph winds, with upgrades available for high-wind zones up to 170 mph.

Snow load capacity measures how much accumulated snow weight your roof supports, expressed in pounds per square foot (PSF). Standard carports handle 20-35 PSF — plenty for most moderate climates. Snow-belt regions? We spec for 40-65+ PSF to deal with heavy, wet accumulation.

Regional Climate Considerations

Where you live dictates what your carport needs to handle. Coastal areas prone to hurricanes call for higher wind ratings and corrosion-resistant fasteners. Mountain regions with heavy snowfall need beefed-up snow load capacity and steeper roof pitches.

We dial in your carport's engineering specs based on your specific address, local building codes, and historical weather patterns. That way you're not overpaying for structural overkill you don't need — and you're definitely not underprotecting your investment with inadequate engineering.

Engineering Certifications and Building Codes

Every carport we sell comes with engineered drawings stamped by licensed engineers, certifying the structure meets applicable building codes and load requirements. These certifications matter for permit applications, insurance documentation, and property value assessments. Don't skip this step — and with us, you won't have to.

How Much Does a Double Carport Cost?

Double carport prices typically range from $3,500 to $12,000+, depending on size, customization level, roof style, and location. Knowing what actually drives cost helps you decide which features deliver the best value for your situation.

Base Pricing and What's Included

A basic 20×20 double carport with a regular roof and minimal customization starts around $3,500-$4,500 in most markets. That includes the metal structure, professional installation in our service areas, and standard color options. Move up to 20×40 or 24×40 dimensions and prices scale proportionally with additional materials and installation complexity.

Upgrading to a boxed eave or vertical roof adds $500-$1,500 depending on size — reflecting the enhanced engineering and material requirements.

How Customization Affects Your Investment

Every customization adds specific value and cost. Side panels typically run $400-$800 per side depending on dimensions. Full enclosure with end walls and garage doors can add $2,000-$4,000 — essentially converting your carport into a complete garage at a fraction of what traditional garage construction would cost.

We give you itemized quotes breaking down costs by feature. That way you can prioritize the customizations that actually matter for your situation rather than paying for things you don't need.

Financing and Payment Options

We offer financing options so a custom carport doesn't require the full amount upfront. Flexible payment plans let you protect your vehicles now while spreading the investment across manageable monthly payments. Get in touch to discuss financing terms, approval requirements, and payment schedules that work with your budget.

What's Included in Free Delivery and Installation?

Free delivery and installation covers transporting your carport to your property, professional installation by our certified crews, and complete setup — typically finished in a single day for standard double carports. This is available within our coverage areas and saves you real money compared to buying materials separately and hiring your own contractors.

Our Service Area and Delivery Coverage

We provide free delivery and installation across [service area states/regions]. Located outside our primary coverage? We can still get your carport to you — delivery fees may apply based on distance, but we'll give you exact costs during the quote process. No surprises. You'll know your complete investment before you commit.

The Installation Process: What to Expect

Our crew shows up with your custom-built carport components, verifies the installation location, and confirms site prep meets requirements. Then they get to work. Standard double carports take 4-8 hours from start to finish. Our certified installers handle every aspect of construction — anchoring, leveling, and making sure the structure is sound before they leave your property.
